Music Writing Careers add new options to earn money creating electronic style songs and music.
Setup A Music Room
The first thing you’ll need is a basegame computer to get the interactions to appear. The all in one power pc is that works. That’s basically all you’ll need to create songs.
How This Works
From the computer you’ll need to purchase Music Production Software for $275. After you purchase the software you’ll get the Music Composer trait. Now Install the software to get access to all features.
After Install you’ll see a new menu “Music Production” with 3 sub menus. Create Music, Music Writing Gigs, and Music Publishing. Since you’re just starting out with a Music Writing skill of 0, you’ll need to level up to level 2 before you can start making money. To earn skill in the meantime use the interactions behind Create Music and Music Writing Gigs.
Once you’re at level 2 you’ll get a new interaction “Find Music Writing Gigs”. When you click on this you’ll see a few people who need your music writing service. Remember you must find a gig first before the option to create the track they want will appear.
These are Work-For-Hire gigs which means you cannot copyright the tracks. The client will be the copyright owner. It takes 3 hours to create a music track. Once you’ve created a track it’ll appear in your inventory.
Submit Tracks To Clients
Using the Music Writing Gigs menu you’ll see a new interaction to Submit the type of song you just created. You cannot submit the track if it’s not in your inventory.
Level 3 Music Writing
At this level you can create music tracks without a client and copyright the track afterwards for $75. There are two types of tracks. Copyright Protected and Unprotected tracks. The unprotected tracks have to be in your Sim’s inventory before you can copyright them.
Level 4 Music Writing
You’ll now be able to submit any copyrighted tracks to a Music Publishing Company. Once you submit it you’ll get a lump sum of money.
Level 5 Music Writing
At max level you get access to cowriting. From the Music Writing Gigs menu find a music collaboration. They’ll give you 1/2 of a song. With the half in inventory you’ll need to complete the other half. Once complete, copyright the song and submit it to the Music Publishing Company.
