The Sims 4 Open World Mod Beta version was finally released today after months of confusion around what the mod offered and gameplay. A Walkthrough video is available here, detailing an exciting new way to experience The Sims 4 that includes the ability to purchase and drive around in a car, get an apartment, go to the grocery store, and tons of other activities.
This mod is currently available on Patreon and links to a Google Drive document for the download link. The document will walk you through the installation process which is actually quite involved. Be sure to backup everything you’ll need to change, I even went a step further to create a completely new Sims 4 game file. No mods or cc or anything else in that game file to get the best results. Although I plan to do a lot of experimenting with adding mods, starting out fresh is highly recommended. There were a few issues I encountered with the save file but was fixed with the latest beta version 0.21, expect many more.
My gameplay impression was astonishment. The size, seemingly endless places to go, the open world experience is amazing. I purchased my car at the garage for $2000 and drove around the open world. That felt really cool especially on the road with other traffic. I’ve ventured into a few functional buildings, a bar and a few apartments. There are subways, an airport, even a theater. Tons more to explore.
I’m going to keep this post very short because it absolutely isn’t doing the actual experience justice. I will have a complete guide to this mod really soon with a few experiments on the way.
